Celtic Quilt - Taking traditional celtic designs and combining patchwork and quilting to enhance the design I have created this textile piece (176cm x 192cm)
Ocean Park - I have used the 'Ocean Park' series of paintings by the American artist Richard Diebenkorn as inspiration for this textile piece. Each block represents an adaptation of one of these paintings in which Diebenkorn used the Californian sea and sky scapes as his basis for paintings. (210cm x 166cm)

Julia Chapman |
| This large oil painting was inspired by the quality of light and rich colour in stained glass window design. Admittedly, there was no particular forethought to composition as each pattern was added as the design progressed. Soft rounded forms to ‘spiky,’ hard-edged foliage create the texture that attracts the eye over the entire canvas. The black outlines serve to define colours, enhance their brightness, and also give an illustrative quality to the piece that overall has an amazing impact on the senses. |
